The local community event was organised in line with the W.A.T.E.R Project objective to expand the initiative of the local community in the W.A.T.E.R Project. For this year the project has targeted at least additional 3 to 5 community from put of 10 communities to be involved in the project. Therefore besides earlier 5 which have been trained the addtitonal 5 to be engaged and trained be as active as the local community of SG Way. As a result the local community of PJS8 have shown their committment to participate by joining the W.A.T.E.R Project programme. As a start GEC has initiated the training programme with the PJS 8 which was organised recently on 26th June 2011 at River Care Education Centre. The event was participated by 20 participants from PJS8 area. The half day event have attracted the local communities of PJS 8 to develop a similar initiative which could help them to improve their surrounding environment. Many have showed their interest to establish green initiatives especially in used cooking oil collection and recycling. A follow-up programme will be developed together with the local community of PJS8 with the involvement of various stakeholders such as JPS Selangor, MBPJ and JAS. The W.AT.E.R. Project also have appointed an official focal person (Mr Daud) as a representative local leader to lead this programme at their local level.
