  Tree Planting

An initiative under reforestation effort for watershed health protection at Raja Musa Peat Swamp Forest. Reforestation is able to contribute in:

  1. Effective flood and draught mitigation method during extreme weather conditions
  2. Holds 2,000 tonne of soil carbon, which offsets carbon emissions from 1,400 cars annually
  3. Regulates earth temperature and air quality.

Tree planting activities through W.A.T.E.R Project are conducted at Raja Musa Peat Swamp Forest in collaboration with Selangor State Forest Department (SSFD) on May 2019. The tree planting carried out for one hectare of degraded peatland with 600 trees by volunteers from Heineken Sdn. Bhd. The assessment on 25 October 2019 showed that 395 trees survived (66 %) from total 600 planted trees. The mortality due to natural and site climatic conditions with impact long period of high water table (weak trees unable to adapt). On the other hand, after the tree planting event new trees growing naturally due to natural seed dispersal.
