  3 Training of Trainers (ToT) for 2014

With the approval from Ministry of Education (MOE) and Jabatan Pendidikan Perak (JPP), a meeting was carried on 27th February 2014 with the schools to brief them on the Sg Kinta River Education Programme.

With the outcome from the meeting with proposed schools, the RIVER Ranger Training of Trainers (ToT) was carried out in three phases:

-       14th March 2014 for Tamil Schools

-       15th March 2014 for National SK and SMK schools

-       21st March 2014  for Chinese schools

Follow-up programme was carried with SMART Ranger talk followed with the soap and candle from used cooking oil. The school is interested to be actively involved with the Zero Waste Concept and have expressed their interest on composting, GEC is currently working with the school to identify their strength and interests under the project.

With the new 25 schools in year 2014 and the existing 13 schools from 2013, 3 more new schools took part in the Sg Kinta River Education Programme via MBI recommendation.With the involvement of 41 schools from 2013-2014, 8 schools have been actively carrying out the initiaves from the fund provided in Year 1, whereas for 2014, 10 schools were selected from their commitment and their interest for the installation of the oil and grease trap. The installation of the oil and grease trap involves the participation of the school canteen, school management and teachers. To qualify the schools for the installation, a workshop on oil and grease trap was carried out on 30th May 2014 with MBI under the business community approach.
