  SMART Ranger Activity during Co-Co

 

 

SMART Ranger Hands on Training has been conducted during Co-Curriculum day in five schools under the Kinta River Education Program. The selected five schools are as below:

 

    SMK St. Michael

    SK Coronation Park

    SJK (T) Kerajaan

    SMK Menglembu

    SK Dato Panglima

 

SMK St. Michael – 12 June 2013

The first school that has been trained for SMART Ranger Training was SMK St. Michael on 12 June 2013. There were 21 students and 3 teachers were involved in the Hands-On Activity. This activity has been conducted in 2 hours which includes the Start Managing All Resources Today (SMART) Ranger activities. Firstly a talk on Solid Waste Management have been conducted and followed by hands on activity of composting, garbage enzyme and soap & candle making by used cooking oil. The students and teachers gave their full support and cooperation to participate in the programme. This activity was carried out for the Science Club and Environmental Club students and teachers.

 SK Coronation Park – 19 June 2013

SMART Ranger Hands-On Training continued to the next school, SK Coronation Park on 19 June 2013. 84 students and teachers were involved in this program. This activity was conducted to all teachers and all standard 6 students in 2 and half hours after the school session. All the participants were exposed to the Solid Waste Management, method of making Garbage Enzyme, Composting, Soap and Candle from used cooking oil. The school is keeping and practicing to come up with composting and garbage enzyme in the school garden after the SMART Ranger Hands-On training.

SJK (T) Kerajaan – 26 June 2013

SJK (T) Kerajaan is the first Tamil school which has been trained for SMART Ranger Training. Around 30 students and 3 teachers were involved in this activity. All the participants were exposed to the Solid Waste Management, method of making Garbage Enzyme, Composting, Soap and Candle making from used cooking oil. This activity was a part of the Co- Curriculum activity for the 'Pencinta Alam" Club in their school. The commitment and support from the teachers and the students were good and the willingness to learn were high.

SMK Menglembu – 28 June 2013

SMK Menglembu is one of the school which already started practicing making garbage enzyme and composting by the Environmental and Science Club students. During this activity in the school, the students were exposed to the soap and candle making from used cooking oil and learn about the Resources Management. They were also trained on making garbage enzyme and composting. The hands -on activity were involved 35 students and 2 teachers from Environmental and Science Club.

SK Dato Panglima – 3 July 2013  

SMART Ranger Hands-On Training was continued to SK Dato Panglima on 3 July 2013. 50 students and 2 teachers were involved in this program. This activity was conducted in two and half hours after the school session. All the students were exposed to the Solid Waste Management, method of making Garbage Enzyme, Composting, Soap and Candle making from used cooking oil. The active students from the school shown their interest and gave their full cooperation to support this programme after their school session.
