  School Follow Up Activities

 The school follow up programs was carried out on 9th October 2013 at Gazebo of DID River Education Center. This activity was involved 19 students from SJK (T) Kerajaan and 18 students from SK Kuala Pari with the support of Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Kinta and Perak Education Department. The objective of this program is to increase the awareness on the environment and the importance of the Kinta River among the students and teachers.

 

There was a briefing on river introduction, water quality and activities carried out along the Kinta (DID) River Education Centre. The students were exposed to the environment along the river and explored all the information provided at the Gazebo. The main activity was the introduction to Rubber Dam which was implemented by DID and followed by the demonstration of operating the rubber dam manually and automatically by Mr. Moses (DID Staff).

 

Kinta River act as a water source for Kinta Valley and the rubber dam implementation by DID is to improve the water level of the river when necessary. DID is playing a big role in order to improve the water level of Kinta River, increasing the awareness to public on the important of Kinta River, improve the environment along the particular stretch of Kinta River to attract people and act as an River Education Center to increase the awareness among the public and students.

 

The second part of the program was the walk to Mini Biological Treatment Plant. The treatment plant is to process and treat the dirty water from drain and releases as clean water.
